Artificial 3G pitch surfaces are comprised of multiple layers that simulate the look and performance of a real pitch whilst eliminating the majority of additional challenges that come with using and maintaining a natural grass playing field.

Construction of your artificial 3G pitch begins with groundworks in the form of excavation, infill and levelling to form a dynamic sub-base layer of compacted porous stone which provides a solid, even foundation for the subsequent installation of the shockpad and artificial turf carpet.

The stone layer utilises a free-draining system to minimise surface water retention, therefore reducing the likelihood of cancelled events due to waterlogged pitches. Depending on specification requirements, the sub-base may also feature an enhanced textile membrane layer which further helps with pitch drainage.

Professional 3G football pitches are often built with an engineered system that includes an additional layer of porous tarmac. This provides extra stability and ensures a perfectly flat surface with a more realistic bounce and response to the ball.
